Charter Schools 101 Webinar
Tom Hutton presented a webinar on "Charter Schools 101" on January 19, 2010 for the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB). Alabama currently has no charter school law, but was considering legislation to add charter schools, motivated in part by strong incentives under the federal Race To The Top program. The webinar for school board members, superintendents, and other policymakers covered the basics of charter schools generally, highlighted experiences in states that have charter schools, reviewed Alabama's proposed legislation, and addressed a range of policy considerations, including those discussed in a November 2009 article by Mr. Hutton that was published in the American School Board Journal.
