Practice Area

Mr. Jackson’s practice focuses on the representation of public and private entities involved in civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on employment law matters and commercial general liability insurance defense.  He litigates cases in state and federal courts involving claims brought under the Washington Law Against Discrimination, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, as well as wrongful termination, civil rights, breach of contract, negligence, and premises liability claims.  In addition, Mr. Jackson provides advice regarding employment practices and litigation prevention.  He also represents clients in administrative proceedings before the Employment Security Department, Human Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Before joining Patterson Buchanan, Mr. Jackson was an associate attorney at the Seattle law firm of Lee Smart Cook Martin & Patterson.  He was one of the original attorneys at the founding of Patterson Buchanan.

Appeals:

  • Moon v. City of Bellevue, 142 Wn. App. 1037 (2008) - Employment discrimination case.   Division I of the Washington State Court of Appeals upheld the trial court’s entry of summary judgment in favor of the City of Bellevue.
  • Kroske v. U.S. Bank Corp., 432 F.3d 976 (9th Cir. 2005) - Employment discrimination case wherein the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Mr. Jackson’s client, holding that an age discrimination claim under the Washington Law Against Discrimination was not preempted by application of the National Bank Act.
  • Hammer v. Sailand, 123 Wn. App. 1009 (2004) - Premises liability case wherein Division III of the Washington State Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Mr. Jackson’s client regarding prevailing party attorneys’ fees.
